RES Offshore has been awarded a one year extension to the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services contract with the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult for the met mast installed approximately three nautical miles off Blyth.
RES will continue to deliver scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance and 24/7 remote operations for the structures, equipment and instrumentation systems including all work on the masts together with project management, data management and procurement of vessels and subcontractors. This extension follows successful delivery of the previous two-year agreement and work carried out by RES Offshore as the Owner’s Engineer during mast construction.
RES has gained considerable experience and expertise from providing O&M services to SMart Wind’s Hornsea met mast, Forewind’s Dogger Bank met masts and extensive repair and maintenance campaigns carried out to two further UK offshore met masts. This experience enables RES Offshore to ensure that O&M operations at Blyth are carried out safely and to the highest standards, helping to maximise the availability and quality of data collected from the mast.
Jim Sandon, COO of RES Offshore, said that we look forward to working with the ORE Catapult on this project again and to support them as they expand the opportunities for future R&D projects at the met mast location.
Tony Quinn, Operations Director, ORE Catapult, said that during execution of the initial contract, RES clearly demonstrated comprehensive experience and an ability to meet rigorous and demanding project requirements. I am looking forward to working with them again over the next year.
