Nordex will supply the 40 MW Fourmile Wind Energy Project for its U.S. customer Exelon Wind this year. The order entails 16 Nordex N100/2500 turbines with a hub height of 100 meters plus a 20-year premium service contract delivered and commissioned to the site located in northwestern Maryland.
In view of the moderate wind conditions, the robust and proven Generation Gamma N100/2500 turbine, which is certified for wind class IEC 2, promises an optimum yield for the sixteen turbine project. Given the extreme climate with winter temperatures frequently dropping far below -10 °C, the cold-climate version of the turbines is being utilized.
Nordex previously supplied 34 N117/2400 turbines for the Beebe Wind Project in Michigan for Exelon Wind in 2012. It is currently supplying an additional order for 21 identical turbines for the second phase of the Beebe Project. “This marks a success for our wind power technology and the Nordex team in the United States. I am pleased that we have been able to score again in the Northern American market with another order for our customer Exelon Wind,” says Nordex Management Board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.
