South Korea’s nuclear safety commission approved the restart of a nuclear reactor in the country.
The 950-MW Unit 1 at the 5,881-MW Hanul Nuclear Power Plant got the OK from the Nuclear Safety & Security Commission to restart soon, according to the Yonhap News Agency. Workers with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Powermanually shut down the reactor on June 9 after a control rod dropped.
The country operates 23 reactors that generate about 30 percent of its overall electricity supply.
