DENVER, July 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Oxford Recycling, a pioneer in recycled construction materials has selected Clean Energy Direct, a Denver, CO based solar EPC contractor to install and support its new 350kW Photovoltaic (PV) solar system to produce electricity for its recycling operations.
“We chose to add solar to our operation to further our goal of preserving our natural resources and environment”, says John Kent, President of Oxford Recycling. “We’ve dedicated over an acre of our operating facility to the installation knowing it will more than pay for itself in the years to come in both energy savings and environmental benefits”.
Oxford Recycling has been looking to the future since it purchased the landfill site in 1979. Seizing the opportunity to utilize reclaimed land to produce re-purposed, reclaimed product was a perfect fit. The ballasted ground-mount solar arrays respect the unique constraints of the brownfield situation while generating 490,286,912 kWh a year for the on-site operations, or enough electric energy to power 70 homes.
“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Oxford Recycling on this project; helping them fulfill their vision and ours of supporting projects with multifaceted environmental benefits like energy offset and constructive land use”, says Mark Clifton, Director of Clean Energy Direct. Clifton adds, “We’re using proven components assembled to a site-specific engineering solution for the Oxford Recycling project, we want the system to perform to their high standards of efficiency for years to come”.
