The Alliance to Save Energy recognizes Danfoss Turbocor Compressors as prestigious ‘Innovative Star of Energy Efficiency.’ The title is the most recent international award that the pioneering product has received for its unique technology, which makes commercial buildings greener on a global scale. The product holds huge potential by offering up to 40 percent energy savings in commercial air conditioning systems.
Danfoss Turbocor Compressors is the pioneer and world-wide leader in a cutting-edge technology for commercial air-conditioning applications, whereby the compressor shaft is kept in place by an intelligent magnetic field instead of metal bearings. As a result, there is no wear and tear on the compressor, noise is dramatically reduced, and no oil is required as a lubricant. Because the compressors run at variable speed, energy savings up to 35- 40 percent are possible. Danfoss Turbocor compressors are the first of their kind in the world, and global interest in them is increasing rapidly. Earlier this year, the newest model was honored with two prizes at the International Air-conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition in the US (AHR Expo): an innovation award in the category ‘green buildings’ and the main title, Product of The Year. And now, the compressor has also been titled ‘Innovative Star of Energy Efficiency’ by the organization Alliance to Save Energy.
The increasing interest in the Danfoss Turbocor compressors is also reflected in their sales. Over the past few years, the compressors have been one of the high achievers of Danfoss’ product portfolio, with double-digit growth rates.
Ricardo Schneider, the President of Danfoss Turbocor Compressors, says: ”We are proud and humbled by the recognition of these awards, and we feel a tremendous responsibility to continue to improve energy efficiency around the world. It is through our customers’ applications that our innovative technology is able to transform the built environment. The potential for getting more out of less is huge and the high-efficiency building market is expanding fast: partly because of the increased focus on energy savings in commercial buildings, and partly because of urbanization, which creates a need of more buildings.”
The Danfoss Turbocor compressors help reduce the energy consumption, among other things, in the Orlando Science Center in Florida, in the War Memorial of Korea building in Seoul, and in the big green office building Marble Arch House in London.
