ČEZ made the statement in the Prague Post in response to an article in the Korea Times that said South Korea-based utility Korea Electric Power Co. (KEPCO) would bid for the two new reactors at the 1,015-MW Temelín nuclear power plant. ČEZ canceled a $15 billion tender to build the reactors in April, saying the company would not be able to finance the new reactors without some form of state aid due to dropping European power prices. Westinghouse Electric LLC and a Russian-Czech consortium led by Rosatom were the top runners in the bidding.
The chairman of the supervisory board of ČEZ said in the article that a new tender may be declared next year.
